How is the scent of the scented candle added

Scented candles, soaps, shower gels, shampoos, sweets, beverages, etc. can be universally referred to as "scented products", i.e. products that are scented to meet people's needs through the addition of blended fragrances, but we often get the finished product without knowing how the fragrances are added.

Recently many of you who love scented candles have been asking me the same question - how is the scent added to scented candles? In today's article we will talk about how to add fragrance to scented candles? And how to make them yourself at home?

  I. How is the scent of a scented candle added?

To clarify this, you need to know how scented candles are made

1、The process of making scented candles

  2、The addition of fragrance

From the production process, it is clear that the scent of the candle is added to the melted wax

  (1) About fragrances

Flavours are divided into daily flavours and edible flavours, the usual juice drinks and so on with edible flavours, while scented candles, soaps and so on using daily flavours, in line with the national standard requirements, harmless to humans.

Flavours have a complex composition, consisting of a variety of compounds or mixtures with an odour, to which natural ingredients such as essential oils and infusions can be added to increase the natural sense of flavour.

  (2) Scenting ratio

Flavourings are added at a rate of more than 3% and less than 10%, generally around 5% is quite OK.

II. How to make it yourself at home?

There are ready-made kits available online for DIY at home, but the essential oils in the kits are rather poor quality and not very suitable for making candles, so it is best to buy some fragrances online, which are also very cheap.

1、Preparation materials: you need wax melting pots, glasses, glass stirring rods, small induction cooker ...... These tools are not expensive, tb has sets for sale, as shown below, and the same is true of small electronic scales, used to calculate the ratio, also very cheap.

2、Melt the wax: add the prepared soya wax (or beeswax or paraffin wax are available) to the wax melting pot, outside the wax melting pot you need to add a bigger pot with water to melt it in water, so that the temperature is not too high to make the wax paste.

3、Fill the glass: pour the melted wax into the glass. When melting the wax, take care not to control the temperature too high, try not to differ too much from the room temperature, if it differs too much from the room temperature, it will lead to cracks on the surface of the wax when it is solidified and cooled.

4、Add fragrance: drop the fragrance you like into the wax solution and stir well with a glass rod, controlling the proportion at around 3% to 10%.

5、Insert the wick: insert the wick when the wax has cooled almost to the touch, if the surface of the wax is not flat, melt some more wax to cover it. The wick can also be fixed in the container before filling the cup and then pouring in the wax. Wicks are available in cotton or wood, but cotton is recommended for DIY as it burns better.

6, decorative embellishments: available dried flowers and other decorative embellishments, of course, embellishments according to personal preference, fruit peel, branches, etc. are possible.
