  1. Preparation of materials

To make your own scented candles you will need to prepare materials such as a wax melting pot, glass, glass stirring rod and a small induction hob. There are ready-made tool kits available to buy online if you DIY at home, or you can buy them separately yourself.

  2、Melting wax

Add the prepared soy wax or other wax to the wax melting pot. Add a larger pot with water outside the wax melting pot and melt it under water.

  3、Fill the cup

Pour the melted wax into the glass when the temperature of the wax solution is not too different from the room temperature, otherwise the wax surface will easily crack when it solidifies and cools.

  4. Fragrance

Add a drop of your favourite scent or essential oil to the wax solution, one tenth of the wax at a time, and stir well with a glass rod, keeping the ratio to around 3% to 10%.

  5. Insert wick

If you feel that the surface of the wax is not flat, you can continue to heat and melt the right amount of wax and pour it over the wick to smooth it out, there are cotton and wooden wicks, DIY recommend using cotton for better burning effect.

  6、Decorative embellishments

The candle can be decorated with dried flowers, fruit peelings, twigs and other items of your choice and when the decoration is complete the homemade scented candle is ready.

Secondly, what is the best wax to use for homemade scented candles

When making scented candles, the first thing to consider is what wax to use. Different waxes can make a difference in terms of the quality of the candle, so what wax is good for making scented candles?

  1. Soy wax

Made from hydrogenated soybean oil, this wax blends well with essential oils in a way that other materials cannot, making it the first choice for many DIY scented candle players.

  2. Beeswax

Also known as yellow wax or beeswax, it is a fatty substance secreted by four pairs of wax glands in the abdomen of age-appropriate worker bees in a bee colony and is also very suitable for making scented candles.

  3. Vegetable wax

Vegetable wax is a naturally refined candle material that can come into direct contact with the skin, but is expensive and therefore mainly used in some of the better scented candles.

In addition to these natural waxes, paraffin wax is also used as a raw material for making scented candles, however, paraffin wax is a petrochemical and can be carcinogenic if it is not pure enough and is prone to black smoke when used, so it is not usually recommended for homemade scented candles.
