What international regulations should be paid attention to for food additives

Various countries and regions have corresponding regulations on food additives.

EU food additive regulations coordinate food additives used in food throughout the EU. The food additives in Appendix 2 can only be used in food under specified conditions, and the food additives in Appendix 3 can only be used in food additives, food enzymes and food spices under specified conditions. There are also special regulations for the use of colorants and sweeteners.


The use of food additives in the United States is regulated in sections 172 to 178 of Chapter 21 of federal regulations. It is divided into direct food additives, secondary direct food additives and indirect food additives.


The Food Hygiene Law issued by the Ministry of Labor and Health of Japan adopts the list management of food additives. According to the categories of food additives, the functional categories of food additives, the names of food additives, target foods, maximum limits and use restrictions are introduced.


Australian Standard Food Additives specifies the allowable food additives and the amount of food additives used in each food category by food category.


The "DIVISION16 Food Additives" in part B of the Canadian Food and Drug regulations specifies, in the form of a list (Singapore food Ingredient supplier) , the types, scope and maximum amount of additives allowed to be used, as well as more specific provisions on the use (Singapore food flavour wholesale) , specifications, standards, sales, imports, labels and advertisements of food pigments, cyclohexylaminosulfonates and saccharin sweeteners.


The International Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) is an intergovernmental international organization established jointly by (FAO) of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and (WHO) of the World Health Organization in 1963 (Singapore food flavour wholesale) . It is responsible for coordinating and formulating international food standards, guidelines and recommendations, collectively referred to as the Codex Alimentarius to protect consumer health and ensure fair trade. The General Codex Standard for Food Additives (GSFA), is a non-mandatory standard. The permitted food additives, the forbidden food additives and the maximum amount of food additives are introduced.
